Gender, Place, and Region: Thoughts on the State of Women in Atlantic Canadian History

Abstract

This article argues that the impact of feminism on Atlantic Canadian history has been limited as a result of the often uneasy relationship between gender and region. Traditionally Atlantic Canadian history as been focused on political and economic themes while the extensive scholarship on women and gender has contributed to our understanding of social and cultural themes.
