Abstract

This paper aims to establish that the Correspondence between Marguerite d'Angouleme and Guillaume Briconnet, an exchange of letters which lasted four years (1521-1524), is in fact one of the first involvements by a woman in the male theological discourse of the sixteenth century. Through a strategy based on the use of metaphors, Marguerite is able to engage in a debate which had specifically excluded female writers until then.
