Abstract

This paper critiques gendered and phallocentric representations of the maternal body by constructing an ambiguous, hybrid materiality for it that draws from Haraway's cyborg. The paper employs the technological paradigm of the cyborg in order to counter other (obstetrical and visual) technologies of surveillance that (en)gender the maternal body
