Abstract

Half a million women are annually brought into the borders of the European Union for the purpose of forced prostitution. Despite nongovernment organizations' (NGO) fighting for improved legislation to combat trafficking in women, Union governments have taken little action to combat this problem. This note outlines the problem and policy remedies.
